The Carbon Desktop ‘Spotlight’ is a showcase of the brilliant projects that our users have undertaken.
This month we are pleased to highlight the work of Andrea Watt, the Site Engineering Compliance Manager at Bakkavor Spalding site: The Spalding site is a major manufacturer of Salads, Soups, Dips and Delicatessen products, which are supplied to major supermarket chains across the UK.
Andrea is undertaking a major site electrical power system upgrade for the whole site including the 15 main transformers and related LV sub stations. To assist this project Andrea has made extensive use of Carbon Desktop to produce average and maximum demand analysis on a 15 minute basis for all of the sites 15 transformers.
This data enabled the purchase of appropriately sized transformers and cables without the need to purchase expensive oversized units as a contingency.
Andrea also makes extensive use of Carbon Desktop’s automatic analysis reports which clearly show consumption deviation from target broken down by total and sub-metered consumption. The numeric element shows deviation from target along with a clear Red, Amber, Green status and a graphical display of Cusum deviation to clearly show trends against target. These reports and resulting insights have allowed the team to deliver significant cost savings and Carbon reduction for the whole site.
Building on the success of already delivered reductions and demonstrated payback, Andrea is now increasing the number of sub meters on site to develop a deeper analysis of what is driving consumption with the confidence that additional savings will be achieved.
We are pleased to see that Carbon Desktop has helped Andrea to implement the successful electrical upgrade and demonstrate the improvements to the rest of the business.
