Our monthly Carbon Desktop ‘Spotlight’ provides Carbon Desktop users with the opportunity to share their energy management success stories.
This month we are showcasing the work of Dan Hothersall, a Hydraulics Engineer at JCB Research, located at the World headquarters of JCB.
JCB are world leading manufacturers of Construction and Excavation equipment with 10 manufacturing factories in the UK. Carbon Desktop is extensively used in all 10 of the UK manufacturing facilities.
Dan’s use of Carbon Desktop enabled him to evaluate the detailed consumption of specific items of equipment in the research centre. During this analysis he was able to identify the opportunity to deliver a £4,000 per annum electricity cost reduction. This was achieved by implementing a VSD drive on a hydraulic load. The ‘Cusum’ (Cumulative sum) facility in Carbon Desktop enables Dan to monitor ongoing consumption after the project implementation Vs previous consumption to quantify actual savings delivered.
Carbon Desktop is used on a regular basis within the department to monitor and report against ongoing consumption including the identification of potential anomalies and further opportunities.
Carbon Desktop is effective for monitoring ongoing consumption so that savings can be quantified.
