We will be showcasing a ‘best practice’ Carbon Desktop project, giving Carbon Desktop users the opportunity to demonstrate their achievements.
We have reviewed some very strong contenders for the first ‘Spotlight’ in our Series and have chosen Carl Preece from Tulip:
Tulip is one of Britain’s leading food producing companies, with 17 manufacturing facilities throughout the UK.
Carl has used Carbon Desktop to record the electricity consumption of several vacuum pump sets on site. By setting targets for consumption and holding the operators on each shift accountable, he has achieved a £23,000 per year reduction in electricity costs.
The change in electricity use from noisy to repeating pattern is clear to see in the graph below.
In addition to this, Carl uses Carbon Desktop to record daily and weekly environmental statistics. This means that the weekly and monthly reports are automatically generated and e-mailed out to everyone who reads them, on time. Due to the ease of use and the improvement in reporting times, the business is now planning to roll these reports out to all the other UK sites.
We are pleased that Carbon Desktop has not only enabled considerable cost savings, but that the flexible reporting is also helping to save valuable time and aids communication in the business.
